Cleaning validation frequency
Hello,
at which frequency we have to review the cleaning validation program?
Regards
Hi,
DO you mean for your CIP systems. If yes, I believe it is every three years.
Hi VDM2024,
I would expect to review critical cleaning programs annually as per clause 2.5.1.1, this may include 11.2.5.1 v. ‘Validation of the cleaning procedures for food contact surfaces (including CIP)’ and where cleaning is critical to remove the risk of allergen cross-contamination as per clause 2.8.1.5 ‘procedures for validation and verification of the effectiveness of the cleaning and sanitation of areas and equipment in which allergens are used’
2.5.1 Validation and Effectiveness (Mandatory)
2.5.1.1 …. The methods applied shall validate that:
ii. Critical food safety limits are reviewed annually and re-validated or justified by regulatory standards when changes occur;
Note that Clause 2.1.2 Management Review (Mandatory) requires review of verification and validation activities
2.1.2.1 The SQF System shall be reviewed by senior site management at least annually and include:
iv. Corrective and preventative actions and trends in findings from internal and external audits, customer complaints, and verification and validation activities;
Verification is applied on an ongoing basis to ensure the cleaning procedure is effective and may include inspections, record reviews, ATP swabs or Micro tests. Normally a review of cleaning verification activities should provide assurance that cleaning procedures are effective. Review of validation is for critical elements as mentioned previously and also when there are changes that may affect food safety.
Kind regards,
Tony
