Are There AI Systems That Match Product to Label?

Hi.

With the growth of artificial intelligence systems, are there any systems that anyone uses (or aware of) that can verify product to the label applied (or label to product)?

I work for a medium sized craft bakery (UK) and we are sent flyers from various companies extolling the use of artificial intelligence, and are aware of online/ offline label verification systems; have not came across a system that confirms right product with right label/ packaging.

Products would be general bakery produce - various style bread rolls, cakes, pies etc.

Regards

S.

There are some vision inspection systems that might be capable of this if the products are sufficiently visually distinct.  They'll require time to train, and are likely to be expensive (comparable price to a high feature xray inspection system).

My observation has been that most claims of AI use is little more than marketing hype.

The foundation of AI is neural networks.

The outputs of AI (e.g. verification, information) depends a lot on the data which have been fed to its database. This leads some significant issues from the feeding sources: (not mentioning the model/algorithms qualities)

- Data size

- Data diversity

- Data accuracy

- etc.

The some noticeable flaws of famous AIs are the "9.11 > 9.9" and "glass full of wine picture" or "salmons in a river"

IMHO, it's still to early to use AI in serious applications like food safety and medicals.

Hi Scotty

Reach out to https://www.oalgroup.com/ they are based in the UK and may be able to help out - they have wealth of knowledge in the AI sector. - If they cannot help, I'm sure they'll be able to point you in the right direction.

Shaun

Thanks all for the feedback.

Vision systems capable of "reading" packs and dates have been around for a while.  I remember seeing one in about 2017 ish.

It's not really "AI" more machine learning but I find a lot of AI claims are the latter anyway.

A quick google suggests a few products out there from the basic barcode reader types to something more thorough that actually "sees" and interprets codes and key points which distinguish packaging.

I have never seen that salmons in a river photo, and that is simply hilarious. Thank you for sharing!
