How Often Should You Test Soap and Sanitizer in Sink Compartments?

Hi everyone,

Question. How often are you testing your soap in your large compartment sinks for washing, rinsing, and sanitizing? I'm currently testing the sanitizer daily but haven't worked in a plant before now that tests the soap.

Thanks,

Kristen

Sanitizers I've generally tested daily and then titrations on the soap were a weekly activity.   These were all on blending systems so really would only see an issue if a tip on the dispenser was cracked, which was more critical for the sanitizer than the soap as there is a rinse prior to the sanitizer step.

I have never heard of testing the soap for washing, however we are doing audits on the metering Tips to ensure it is the correct color and size opening for the correct amount of soap to water ratio.

We do the ph strips for Sanitizer every time the sink is dumped and refilled, so depending on location that might be up to 4 times a day.

We use automatic dispensers that are supposed to put out the exact amount needed... however we know how that works.

For our automated dispensers cleansers are verified once per week, and once per shift for sanitizers.

You can depend a great deal more on organoleptic observations for cleansers, as it will much more likely be perceptible when they fail to be adequate.
