How to Manage FedEx and UPS Deliveries Under SQF Transportation Requirements
SQF says vehicles shall be secured form tampering using seals or other agree-upon and acceptable devices or systems. How does everyone handle the FED EX & UPS deliveries.
Unless you are shipping full loads I would be inquiring if the doors are locked back up between drop and loads - get that in writing, etc.
Ouside of that if you are shipping pallets tamper evident overwrapping is defense.
There is also tamper evident tape to seal boxes that you might look into.
We verify (and notate) trucks are padlocked as they enter and exit our yard. Whatever you decide, make sure it's written in an SOP or policy, your team is trained on it, and it includes what to do if a trailer is unsecured upon arrival.
Treat them as LTL basically. Make sure your packages are secured. If you're talking about the little box vans, the UPS guy told me once that their security calls out the open access from the cab to the back cargo area: essentially a driver would know if someone was in his truck unauthorized while driving, and they lock the trucks when they leave them unattended.
