Animal by-products and food fraud

Can a licensed animal by-products operator circumvent official controls and divert some of the animal by-products for human consumption?

Given the Fears Animal Byproducts case, it seems possible.

According to the recently published ruling, this licensed animal by-products operator (36/043/9046/ABP/MED) collected these by-products and delivered some of them to a clandestine establishment located in London (Southwark Council), where they manipulated the ABPs to sell them as products fit for human consumption.

Well, legally NO

Bad actors all over the place thinking the rules do not apply to them

Can you say Mad Cow disease?????????

Well blatantly not because they were convicted...

In light of the findings of the court ruling, dated March 2025, it would be desirable for the FSA to revoke Fears Animal Products' ABP operator license.

It is still listed on the April 2025 list.
