Food Safety & Nutrition Specialist

My name is Sousa Gastão, I am a Food Scientist, Nutritionist and Food Safety Specialist from Mozambique. I hold a BSc in Nutrition, MSc in Food Safety, and I am currently a PhD Candidate in Food Sciences (Universidade Nova de Lisboa, in association with Universidade de Évora, Portugal).

My professional background combines clinical and public health nutrition, food safety inspection, and anti-counterfeiting activities. I have worked as a Nutrition Officer with a focus on community health and malnutrition programs, and I also have experience in economic activities inspection and regulatory enforcement with INAE (Mozambique’s National Inspection Authority for Economic Activities).

My research interests and professional focus include:

• Food safety management systems (ISO 22000, FSSC 22000, HACCP, BRCGS)

• Food fraud and counterfeiting prevention

• Nutrition and public health

• Capacity building for food businesses in developing countries

I joined this community to exchange knowledge, learn best practices, and contribute with insights from my field experience in Mozambique and internationally.
