An example SOP-Program for inspecting gaskets and rubber impellers to comply with SQF
Hi All,
Does anyone have an example SOP/Program to inspect and document condition of gaskets, rubber impellers etc. for a bakery manufacturing facility per SQF 11.7.3.9
Thanks in advance
BP
This would normally be included on your pre-operational inspections and on Maintenance PM program.
Agree with Glenn, also I'd suggest that your cleaning / sanitation team have a part to play when they do cleaning processes. I'd include something on your PPM and sanitation paperwork to confirm they were in good nick at the end of their processes and if not, that they're replaced and the cause / impact investigated.
Hi Bakery Products,
:welcome:
Welcome to the IFSQN forums.
The requirement for clause 11.7.3.9 is for: Gaskets, rubber impellers, and other equipment made of materials that can wear or deteriorate over time shall be inspected on a regular frequency (refer to 2.5.4.3).
If these can be inspected because the equipment is stripped down for cleaning then that is when they would normally be inspected. Have a check box to record the condition on your cleaning record.
For equipment that isn’t stripped down on a regular basis the gaskets and rubber impellers should be on maintenance schedule for inspection and replacement.
Inspections and maintenance need to be recorded.
Normally such items would be scheduled to be replaced on a maintenance schedule, if they are not then I would want to have evidence that the person carrying out the inspection is competent to carry out that assessment.
Kind regards,
Tony
Thank you all for the inputs. I get started on it now.
