Artificial Sugars

Hello,

For those who are diabetic and for those who are trying to avoid being one, you may just want to know more about the type of sugar you take....there are alternatives you know.

By the way, I am on Stevia.

I don't use sweetners at all myself, but came across a related article and I though you might be interested.

The Australian food watchdog has issued a warning over a low-cal sweetener that could harm consumers who are intolerant to the fruit sugar fructose, advising these people to avoid the novel food ingredient tagatose.

People should really be careful about consuming artificial sugars. Really, any thing that is artificial ought to deserve some degree of scrutiny anyway.

I am not surprised at all that tagatose carries a warning tag since it will to metabolise in our body hence, diabetic and people on diet may want to avoid.

It gets worse when these sugars are used as ingredients instead of as a direct sugar-replacer. When it becomes more difficult to pronounce the name of the artificial sugar, the more dangerous it is.
