How to Find New Posts in the Forum
Just some thoughts which I will be happy to see corrected if wrong (particularly since I will be the first beneficiary). I’m sure some of this is stated much more clearly elsewhere in the forum but I wasn’t smart enough to find it.
Logically, assuming you are logged in, one would go to the “View New Posts” button when one enters the Forum to see posts subsequent to last visit but I suspect this means that if you omitted to see some posts on yr last visit this is just bad luck.
Alternatively (and unavoidably if you are not logged in), one can go to the “Today’s Active Topics” which gives you everything but within a daily timespan only. I invariably find posts in this which I missed from first option above (or I forgot the VNP button was there.)
It would be nice if there was a Google type option where you could see listed posts from 1,2,3, days back etc but the bandwidth is presumably excessive.
Thirdly, if you wish to be adventurous, can try “The Last Click’ and see what other people are reading. Viagra used to be the clear winner but seems to have lost its attraction these days. (Maybe some GMOs have other side-effects.)

PS For archive type details, the search button is there of course but the new upgrade has slightly downgraded the accessibility of this function IMO since, I think, you now need to do more button pressing to get at things.
I'm here to make your experience of the forums better Charles; give me a couple of days to look into your queries and let's see what I can come up with.Dear All,

When you click "View New Posts" I think it does show you all the new posts you have not viewed regardless of number of previous visits. Until you click to enter and view a post I believe it will remain available to show in "View New Posts" - I think that is the logic although I could be wrong as I never use it. All of these features work by storing a cookie on your hard drive, that's why you have to be "logged in" so it can remember you.Logically, assuming you are logged in, one would go to the “View New Posts” button when one enters the Forum to see posts subsequent to last visit but I suspect this means that if you omitted to see some posts on yr last visit this is just bad luck.
Like I said I don't use VNP, I might try it for a while. “Today’s Active Topics” shows you 'today' but there is also a drop down menu below where you can select to get active topics for: today, this week, past 2 weeks, this month, past 3 months, this year.Alternatively (and unavoidably if you are not logged in), one can go to the “Today’s Active Topics” which gives you everything but within a daily timespan only. Not at all use the drop down for "this week" above. It would be nice if there was a Google type option where you could see listed posts from 1,2,3, days back etc but the bandwidth is presumably excessive.
I never did get to the bottom of that one.Thirdly, if you wish to be adventurous, can try “The Last Click’ and see what other people are reading. Viagra used to be the clear winner but seems to have lost its attraction these days. (Maybe some GMOs have other side-effects.)
When you click "search" you can either type your term and click "go" or if you want top be more adventurous you can click for "more search options" after that you are presented with a more in depth search form. I have attached the two possible options here, which option would members prefer to be presented with when clicking 'more search options?'PS For archive type details, the search button is there of course but the new upgrade has slightly downgraded the accessibility of this function IMO since, I think, you now need to do more button pressing to get at things.

Sorry for the delay in responding Charles, I hope this has answered some of your queries, if not let me know (I'm sure that you will).
