Scores on the Doors pilot schemes in England

At the link above you can find hygiene scores for food establishments in areas involved with the pilot scheme. I checked out Salford as I was born there and know a lot of the food places mentioned. Personally I find the system very (un) user friendly, I had to do a lot of digging to get at the scores, in its present form I cannot see the system being used much. I'd like to see a league table. Quite interesting though.

Simon

Wonder if a certain Chocolate manufacturer has subscribed to the scheme????

You're like a dog with a ruddy bone. I don't think the big C would be the type of establishment covered by local Environmental Health Officer audits, more Mollies Fish and Chippery and Abra Kebabra.

No Ta......i don't eat chocolate......i'm diabetic! lolol
Dear Cazxx,

Now that is surely a potential business opportunity - sugar free chocolate!!

PS (I am often tempted to add LOL as in the above but I've never quite sure what it actually means)

You can already buy diabetic chocolate, which I assume is sugar free. Charles LOL means Laugh Out Loud, but do you kow what ROFLMAO means?

Dear Simon,

Chocolate - that's amazing, does it still taste like chocolate?
Thks for LOL. I thought the romantic interpretation was a bit optimistic.
RO...- Roll over Beethoven?? It's too early for Google.

A friend of mine is diabetic and I've tried some of his sweets, which were not very tasty. I imagine the chocolate is no substitute for the real thing, but I suppose you can get used to it. To save time it's "Rolling On Floor Laughing My A** Off" - I think.

You need to buy thorntons diabetic chocolate, with 70% cocoa solids.

That's not too bad actually!

And hopefully, Salmonella Free!!

(i didn't mention the C word!!)

I think a Welsh lesson may be in order

Caz...short for Carolyn

Yn....welsh for in

Cymru..welsh for Wales

So Charles i won't be offended if you call me Caz

(No i am not making a pass at Charles!!!!)

(No i am not making a pass at Charles!!!!)

As if you're not.
Dear Caz and Simon (aka the Stirrer),

Many thks for all this fascinating material. I did know that Cymru referred to Wales but the rest is new. I did a bit more ancestorial digging and came up with this –

“CARL, CHARLES: These names are both derived from Carolus, a Latinized form of Old Norse Karl, "free man" (as opposed to a thrall). From Quenya mirima "free" (MIS) we derive Mirimon as the High-Elven equivalent. Feminine form Mirimë = Carolyn, Caroline.”

So it seems we have an elven linkage!!

Regarding LOL etc, this type of symbology is actually from a now enormous reservoir. I selected this mildly chucklable example from a standard reference, (one of 78 definitions btw inc. the one I knew “lots of love”) –

lol to 'laugh out loud'

Man:'Doctor Doctor i feel like a bridge'
Doc:'well what has come over u'
Man ' 3 cars ,2 lorrys ,a bike and 3 vans.'

lol

Another excellent demonstration of your investigative (is that a word?) prowess Sherlock Charles. I always felt you and Caz were related in some way, in fact from time to time I wondered whether you were one and the same person; maybe your nocturnal alter ego. However, I concluded you were two separate people.

BTW is there no bottom to the endless pit we call the internet, well seemingly not; as of January 2007 there are 106,875,138 websites on the internet. It makes me kind of humbled and happy that people choose to come here.
