Dear Friends,

I am an industrial engineer has just started working in plastic food packaging sector,I have to start and guide a group of people for an FMEA study to determine and avoid risks of packages manufacturing process with IML .

However,I have been working in Automotive sector and sadly i do not have enough experience and knowledge about environmental risks or contamination risks. In short any risks (except technical risks) which cause health problem or microbiological problems etc related to this process.

Honestly, i want to collect some information to improve my self for guiding this study and gian ablty to comment on risks more efficiently.

I ll be extremely glad if you can help me.

Thanks.

Eren

Hello Eren, welcome to the forums. Well where do we start? Rather than FMEA, in the food industry (including food packaging) HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point) is the recognised risk assessment tool to use. I suggest you have a look at this system first. Try reading this - HACCP for Packaging. One you have taken a look at this please come back and ask further questions; you've come to the right place and we'll help you all we can.

Regards,
Simon

Hello Eren,

Were does IML stand for ?

Okido

I was wondering the same.
Dear Simon and Okida,

First of all thanks for your assistance Simon. If you dont mind i will ask further quesitons nowadays about the risk factors.

IML stands for In Mould Labelling. This process provides an alternative to elaborate secondary operations, such as printing on packaging products. During the plastic injection process you can cover the product with a special label without any contamination. This system prodives outstanding quality of decoration which cannot be achieved by either offset or gravure printing.

All the best,

Eren
