The Worst Job You Ever Had?

OK it's Monday, the weathers miserable, and we're beginning that lovely phase of the year in the UK where it's permanently dark. Just lately I've been feeling a bit like Bill Murray in Groundhog Day and I know it's going to get much worse before the light returns next spring.

Now I've depressed you all how about we share some stories on the worst job we ever had. I don't know maybe it'll make the ‘here and now' seem a little brighter.

I don't know which one to choose, somebody else wanna go first for a change.

Regards,
Simon

Definitely the QM's job that brought me to work in Leicester.

Complete pressure cooker of asses.

It comes to something when you have a blazing row with the MD elect, in th emiddle of the shopfloor (not behind closed doors!!) resulting in me telling him where he should stick his own head. (yes, lots of unprintable language)

And, I was proved right by the customer the very next day

The company have expired now.
Probably the worst job ever was when I worked as a van driver delivering curtain material for peanuts. I remember once driving from Manchester at 10 p.m. to do a drop in Newbury, when I got to Newbury it took me about two hours to find the place. After that I had to nip over to Pembrokeshire. It was about 7.30 a.m. by the time I got there and I had to wait until 9.00 a.m. for the place to open. At about 3.00 p.m. I was on the M6 near Staffordshire in the pouring rain when I fell asleep for a second or two. Fortunatley nobody was killed. And all for £50. Another time I had to drop off in Glasgow and then onto Aberdeen, the Leyland Daf was that full the back end was almost touching the floor. I must have been crackers.

I will save my exploits as a commis chef, car valeter, envelope stuffer and Koi carp pond installer for later, much later.

Regards,
Simon

Very good Sam.

What do you think full stop, semi-colon or comma?

Perhaps a differenr word or phrase :D

I was wondering who it was, snoopy or his mates..........
I've just remembered a much worse job I had when I was about 14 and still at school. I worked on a fruit and veg stall on Pendlebury market (sadly it's no longer there). I worked Tuesday and Thursday mornings before school from 6.00 a.m. - 8.30 a.m. and then I went back after school from 3.45 p.m. - 6.00 p.m. I got £1.50 a day. I also worked Saturday's 6.00 a.m. - 6.00 p.m. for a fiver (£5), although to be fair I did get a toasted teacake for breakfast and a chippy dinner into the bargain.

The job involved lugging 55lb sacks of potatoes and 30lb bags of carrots around all day. It was very hard work and I'm not sure whether the employer would win any ethical awards by today's standards, however, I enjoyed it and look back on that time with great affection. It taught me many valuable life lessons (like how to carry 2 sacks of potatoes at once) and to be honest I've never been so financial solvent. After all there's only so many black jacks a kid can eat.

Hang on I think I've just described my best job.

My 2 worst jobs - both during my days as a student

1. Working on the sorting line for a waste recycling company (Its pretty darn smelly work!!) (Even worse - some of the peeps were filtering out bits of waste to 'take home' (like 6 leaves of unused post-it notes!!!!! ) CRAZY!.

2. Being stitched-up during my first week at a meat processors, where the butchers had me leaning in to a vat of raw kidneys, up to my armpits, looking for pig hair!!! (Beats the old 'long-weight' joke hands down!)

Now I've depressed you all how about we share some stories on the worst job we ever had.  I don't know maybe it'll make the ‘here and now' seem a little brighter.
