Global Food Safety Initiative Breakthrough

So where does this leave ISO 22000?
This appears to suggest that British retailers for example would be obliged to accept SQF 2000 as an equivalent to BRC. Seems a bit improbable ?? Or is it to be geographicalised ?
Wonder why they don't like ISO 22000?

Yes this is exactly what it is saying. Well by the retailers who have agreed to it. It's potentially good news for companies who currently hold multiple certification to satisfy their customers in home and export markets.Dear Simon,

I presume because it does not meet with the Global Food Safety Initiative protocol for a food safety system.Wonder why they don't like ISO 22000?

This is taken from the SQF 2000 Guidance docs on HACCP -
Control Point - Any point in a process where loss of control does not lead to problems affecting product safety or quality;
Corrective Action - Actions taken to regain control over a process and any non conforming product;
Critical Control Point - Any point in a process where loss of control leads to problems affecting product safety or quality;
Critical limit - Prescribed tolerances (the boundaries of control) that must not be exceeded to ensure that a critical control point effectively controls the identified hazard;
These defininitions are rather unorthodox IMO. I wonder where the validation is ?
(Nonetheless, the fact that relevant documents are readily accessible on the website must be applauded, I hope this siutuation will remain unchanged vis-a-vis the GFSI linking)

Admirable in my opinion, and one of the reasons for the rapid growth of the standard. I think SQF will stay free of charge. Are you watching BRC?(Nonetheless, the fact that relevant documents are readily accessible on the website must be applauded, I hope this siutuation will remain unchanged vis-a-vis the GFSI linking)
Mens Triples? - Hewitt/Blake/Krajicek vs Federer/Murray/Haas. I predict no change.

Ive been away a while travelling the globe. Just a note on GFSI, I sit on the technical commitee and there is a paper on ISO 22000 position about to be published. I will post it as soon as I have the OK. GFSI can only benchmark standards that are submitted by the standard owners. As ISO 22000 is and ISO it is not "owned" as such, which to me is the advantage, however I also sit on private standard committees such as BRC so I have an open mind. The document to be released will clarify their position on the standard. More interesting news to come I feel as some of the large branded manufactuers are working on a document to supplement ISO 22000. I will keep you posted

I look forward to the supplement documents. I just feel that the retailers are overly protective over their private standards. There should really give ISO 22000 a chance. Perhaps, its a matter of pride on all sides.

I know a long time has passed by, but did this document ever come to pass?Hi All,
