Hello,
i need some help for a productdescription of a tin-can.
I've found it in a requirement for apricots the retailpackaging should be Tin E31 or Tin E41 with easy open.
Does somebody know what the difference between E31 and E41 is? what does it mean?

Thanks for your help.

Can anybody help Maiwaldt? I tried a google and nothing came up.
I've found something in the Internet. It's something about Tinplate E 4/1 and E 2,8/2,8; E 5,6/5,6.
It means Inside 4 g/m² and outside 1 g/m² Tincoating of a can.

I think there is a typing error in the requirement.
Dear maiwaldt,

Happy to hear your success!

Could you post the link and what you googled ?

Like Simon, I got nowhere so interested in yr ingenuity.

Hello,
i've googled: "Weißblech E 4/1" and "Tin E3/1"

at this Website i've found some informations.

Dear maiwaldt,

Thks yr reply. Must admit I didn't get very far with the non-German one.
The website link is rather amazing / impressive. I deduce the "E" refers to equal coatings on both sides whereas "D" is used for differential coatings. This suggests the spec. in yr original post is either wrong or using some other system of classification (E = easyopen maybe .)

I subsequently did a bit more searching (via "tinplate specifications") which also indicates you are on the right path although the prefixes "E", "D" seem to be not always used and the required 3/1 and 4/1 coatings look non-standard. This is presumably why initial Googles failed, eg see -

Anyway, hope you are successful !

Dear Charles,
E=Easyopen is a nice idea
The "E" means the coating was anted up electrolytically.
Hello,
i have found two specifications where E 4/1 and E/1 is mentioned
If you have problems with the attachment send me a note. I'll send the document to your email account.
