National Food Safety Week
Who, where, when, what? Nobody told me. I doubt the tomato growers in the US knew either.I only realised yesterday that it's National Food Safety week this week. I don't know how but every year I miss it. Why don't they make more out of it?
I think the problem is the FSA doesn't really talk to industry at the moment only local government and extensions of that, i.e. schools, hospitals etc. Why on earth don't they tap into the food manufacturing resource?
National food safety week anyway Simon, not international!
Come on over!
The FSA run it. There's a small banner at the top of their website at the moment and I saw a small stall run by unenthusiastic looking EHOs at my local market. Dear GMO,
Well at least you have the annual Food Safety week.. Things like that was an indulgence here... IMO, the same things like yours happen around here. In our country, the Food and Drugs Institution (under government) seems has an feeling of inhibition towards the food manufacturer. But even it was true, why dont we create our own show? Few company held a Food Safety week which getting bigger every year, so the government and common people would recognize that we also put a high concern about Food Safety, not only profit... Well at least it was my dream... I hope it can be realized here...

Arya

Do you have any feedback/ indicators on the efficiency of such weeks?

Emmanuel
I think National Food Safety Month is the U.S. is in Sept - we can celebrate then.
Come on over!
September is not too far away, so what's happening and where. Unless I'm missing something the website is not very informative.

Ok, why don't we continue this thread on what events to stage on a national food safety week?
What about rather than having signage on the plant hygiene rules, ask your operators to make some with a prize for the best and displaying some of them? (People having buy into making the rules tend to follow them!)
Whatabout taking you and the shop floor guys to local schools to teach them about food safety?
Yeah let's all stop playing the victim and do something positive. Good idea GMO. In any system that relies heavily on people it's their 'buy in' that's the key, you don't want to have to do it by discipline and you want them running things as they should be 24/7 when you're in bed. Both your ideas are great and help develop the required mindset. As another idea how about taking groups of operators to your customers to see how they do things, how your products are used in their products and process; it will also get them to understand the pressures they are under from their customers. And why not take them to suppliers. If nothing else it's a nice day out, promotes discussion and learning and facilitates teamwork.Hey! Food safety is exciting! I resent that implication
