Does this apply to in-house labs? Is anyone at SDF working to this standard - any interest?

ISO/IEC 17025:2005, General requirements for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories is acknowledged as the international benchmark for approving the competence of the testing and calibration laboratories that play a vital role in trade, in product development and manufacturing, and in protection of the consumer.

Does this apply to in-house labs?

Yes it does apply to any laboratories of any sizes and types as long as the Laboratory Manual on specific Test Methods are accredited to ISO 17025. It is an important auditable standard. It means the test methods are traceable to internationally recognized test methods which also means the test results are validated to the methodology applied.

Draft TS 22004 refers to ISO 17025:2005 for instance to perform calibration of thermometers and metal detection units.
