Value-added Services for Your Future
An address to the American Society for Quality, Detroit Section, November 7, 2005.

Where must quality go?

During my St. Louis keynote address, at the Quality Audit Division Conference, in March of this year, I spoke of the bifurcation in quality. As I said, then, two distinct branches are appearing in 'quality's' activities: process management and management of processes.

My undiminished contention is that 'Quality' has a vital role and a promising future. But it must change its level of service, its training requirements and background education and qualifications. The service must deepen. It is far too shallow, almost vacuous in many companies. To do so entails becoming more directly involved in the management of the organization.

A fantastic read Allan is such a great writer and proponent of value-added qualities.....and if I may add - "value-added safe qualities"

process management and management of processes.

Personally, I am going to adopt this approach in my future consultation for ISO 22000 FSMS Program where there is a need to better understand "process management" and what better way if not by using appropriate verification/PRP programs (taking the cue from Allan - to have the Process Management System X-Rayed)...........and then, understanding "Management of Process" by appropriate validation program for the next level of improvement and update.

Glad you go something out of it Charles. There is so much to learn from benchmarking with outside industries and disciplines.
