Hi there,

Does anyone have a procedure developed for the formal release of finished product?  It is a BRC standard (5.6) and new to WQA.

Thanks,

Paula

Dear Paulajgr,

This is usually mixed in with, so-called, positive release, eg see this post -

generally can try these threads for ideas -

and, going back a bit -

I don't think any of these contain a specific procedure / sample form. Personally i just made up the procedure to refer to a form - an excel with columns for date / lot ref / selected checked results (ie tickable box for "satisfactory" column / a xrefs (eg lab form) for [cumulated] various options. Seemed to evoke no auditor negativity after my initial attempt at negative-release (eg 3rd column = no reported problems) was frowned upon  .

Not sure if it will work with the BRC standard. What I use is the Quality Control Log, the log includes the finished product meets specifications to be released for sale. The log is based off continuous checks within a run/lot#. The log includes product name, quality control of packaging, weight, size, no visible defects, no tampering, time, date etc. Then finally the last column has an area for the QC rep to initial signing off the lot to be okay to release. You need to include in your log a column for product/run/lot# that did not meet specs to be released and corrective actions procedure. Good luck.
