Appearance & Odor Naming Convention

Hello:

I am actively in the process of trying to define how our quality department describes the appearance and odor for all finished goods. I would like to make sure that the color & appearance information will be loaded into our system to ensure consistency in coloration.

May I please ask if anyone has any examples of how to standardize this? Is there a set list of colors/appearances/descriptors that I should be following?

Thank you for your time and support. Truly appreciate IFSQN.

Warmest Regards,

DK

Ps. we do not produce consumer goods, but do produce both liquid and dry blends. Our blends are used in different applications as a raw material.

We use either pantone colours or RHS colours to help describe appearance.

For milk there's a recognized list of odours and tastes.

Thank you so much, Caz! I will definitely look into your submission.

We also need to develop the terminology for the clarity or opacity of a liquid (clear, cloudy etc.), and what exactly we want to call that parameter.

Would you happen to have any suggestions and/or references?

Thank you again.

Best,

DK
