How to conduct a mock recall?
Hi There,
We are following our HACCP procedure for our operation. Now, the auditor needs us to do Mock Recall and we have no clue how to do…Really appreciate if anybody can give some sample of document and the way to do…

Hi, rikomohd;
In addition to Charles' inquiry may I ask as well if it's product, packaging, and class? Industry?
Sounds like you're in a really tight spot. Recalls can be simple reconciliation or laborious depending on your system (manual vs. electronic), number of inputs for finished goods, outputs for storage/distribution, batch/lot code structure, etc. Generally it is expected to complete a mock recall in under four hours. Training is the key to success (I would recommend 2x annual minimum).

Dear Slab,
Thanks for the excellent compilation, some very useful practical examples.
For the benefit of the OP, might add that there are frequently variations in interpretation of "mock recall". Particularly with regard to potential overlaps with "traceability", the latter also having its own terminological confusions to add to the overall possibilities. Such aspects are well-discussed for several standards in other threads here.

PS - i took the liberty of removing the (previously) 5th file which appeared to be duplicate of (current) 2nd one. Pls feel free to re-up if my error.

No worries. I very well may have duplicated an upload. :oops2:
The four should offer some practical direction for the OP.
Pick a lot, batch or job at random. Trace all the raw materials and packing materials back to the immediate supplier. Trace all finished product to in-house inventory and shipped to customer. Locate all production and maintenance records that apply in case of any contamination or production problems. Have a contact list of customer contacts. Contact the customer and explain you are doing a test (mock recall). Have a contact list for regulatory agencies such as FDA, etc. Keep these lists up to date.
Can you account for 100% of materials and finished product, including waste?
Do employees know who to contact and who should do the contacting?
Do you have a formal Recall Team (assigned members) who know their roles?
Dear ricomohd,
So which Standard in Malaysia was it ??
Rgds /Charles.C
among other things select a recent consignment and actually communicate with buyer to know the distribution status of the goods . in a recently conducted mock recall, the buyer was able to show the distribution of the boxes among his clients. ofcourse keep time log of all events.
Hi Everyone!
Thank you so much for all of this.
When we have our pre-HACCP audit, the auditor ask for a mock recall.
I have background on product recall, but I don't know what and how to do a mock recall.
And thanks to this.
It helps.
