The maintenance of a good laboratory practices and quality management system is essential for every laboratory for providing reliable and correct test results every time. The quality assurance of any laboratory starts from the qualified manpower, proper selection of correct testing procedure, sampling, Sample preservation, Sample preparation, using a suitable equipment, Ensuring the calibration and suitability of the equipment, Reference materials etc… So, to minimize the error and to ensure the reliability of the test results, it is mandatory for all the laboratories to conduct inter and intra quality checks in the laboratory for the control sample at a periodical interval for all the parameters and to ensure the reproducibility of the data. In this presentation, we will see how to do plan and implement the important Quality Assurance methods applicable for any testing laboratory.

- Please can you explain why sampling quality is so low in your data on percentages of errors as in my experience sampling technique provides the most errors in laboratory reporting? Thank you
- Please can you advise on a suitable laboratory proficiency scheme that is recognised by all the GFSI benchmarked standards?
- Please can you advise on reference standards, what do you recommend?
- What do you think about the use of MTA - microbial trend analysis and can you share your experince of using this technique?
