The walking off part we solved fairly easily by having them sign paperwork that any knives not turned in would be deducted from their paycheck....amazing how many stayed in the plant after that.  The dulling part is another issue.  Perhaps a better grade of blade or it might be how they are sharpened.

we used to have a problem with our lab  keys 'walking off' -so we attached them to a 2ft x 4 inch plank of wood 'keyring'- it's funny but they never walked off again!!!!!!

Serously though, if the knives are decent quality and dulling rapidly...... I might be wondering more about how (or for what(!)) they are being used ?

Mike

We had each associate sign their knives out at the beginning of their shift and sign back in at the end of their shift, every single workday.

Also, they signed an agreement with the company that if the knives were not turned in or "lost", the replacement cost of the equipment would come from their paychecks.
