Calibration Questions relating to a screen filter
My facility uses a screen with a 1/4" strainer as a CCP. It is used in a filter before our bottling step.
I have yet to find an appropriate method of calibrating this screen. I have been told that we have certificates that come with each screen, but is this sufficient? If it is not, how then do I calibrate this screen? The methods I have found so far are for sieves with a much smaller mesh.

I guess Strainer cant be a CCP, because if it is so, you should establish the critical limit for it. for example in a Metal Detector there are critical limits for Ferrous, Non Ferrous and Stainless steel or in a Sterilizer or Pasteurizater, critical limits are identified as it temperature and time. So filter can only be a cp or oprp, and there should be some control level, where it can be declared based upon your inhouse/customer product specification, or statutory requirements. So it not necessary to calibrate your strainer. How ever an expert advice is suitable for this issue.

Sieving/filtering through a mesh can be a CCP but obviously this will depend on the function of the process step. It is not the size that is the critical limit but rather the fact that the sieve is fully intact and not damaged.
