Dear all,

I am implementing FSMS in food grade corrugated boxes manufacturing unit.

I am stuck and not able to find ccps and oprps.

Can someone  help me?What should be the CCPs and OPRPs in this.

Thanks in advance.

Hi

In my view, you should determine your own CCPs and OpPrs, based on your own hazard identification and customers needs.  I am not in packaging industry, but in higher risk food production.  I would expect an auditor to be somewhat unhappy if I used hazards from another environment.

My decision tree may help ( assuming I can attach it ok

Hi Charu,

It inevitably depends on yr risk assessment, ie the product and process. And yr iso-haccp methodology.

These threads may give some background context for packaging -

@ Director - Thanks for the decision tree. Quite like this variation except that it can generate a lot of OPRPs.

Appreciate comment Charles.  It can generate lots of OpPRs at first sight, but by the time you have got that far down the decision tree, things should be CCPs or OpPRs anyway.  They all need controlling.  The filter and limiter  is actually earlier on when firstly deciding if the hazard merits use of the decision tree or not and secondly by the prerequisite programme.  As long as the hazard is managed by pre-requisites, operational prerequisites or by CCPs, it shouldn't matter in the overall scheme of things.  In my experience, most product recalls nowadays are not CCP failures, so better attention to PRPs and OpPRs is the way to improve food safety anyway.

Hi Director,

It's true that the modern generation cetainly love prerequisites a la ISO. Probably will be no CCPs left soon. Only OPRPs.

Actually my comment about OPRPs was mainly towads Qu6. I prefer to utilise this query in the risk assessment to minimise (OPRPs/CCPs),  and work. But many others don't.
