Use by - once opened

Hello All.

Does anyone know if there's any published guidelines for consumtion of cooked crabmeat once opened? I always throught it was consume within 24 hours. However, we have a customer who wants to open packs and add other products to sell - they want us to change to 48 hours. Are there any standard guidelines without carrying out shelf life testing?

Hi Pops,

I assume this is/was chilled RTE.

yr info. may be insufficient.

There are FSA shelf-life, default, regs for certain permutations of above inc. where the item is opened and modified. but it depends on the specific permutation.(more precisely it depends on the target micro./whether ROP is involved)

You'd be well advised to get shelf life checks done Poppy, it's 48 hrs at most.
