Hello everyone,

Would anybody be able to tell me to what extent/under which conditions can a Broker company exclude divisions/departments/range of products from the Audit scope?

Although I have found some Kind of "decision trees" on this subject for the exclusion from the Food Standards, I could not find Information about the Broker scope.

Regards,

Pauline

Hello,

in case anyone is wondering, the key answer here is the Definition of the Audit scope, which must be agreed upon with the certification Body.

The defined scope must be clear enough so that there are no possible misleading on the certificate.

Certification Bodies may have different opinions on the question, so you should consider a wide range of possible certification bodies.

Hi Pauline,

You can only exclude separate offices/locations and not products or services.

"The achievement of the certification criteria relies on clear commitment from the company management to

adopting the best-practice principles outlined within the Standard. There is often an assumption by customers
that where a certificate has been issued to a company’s office, all products and not just a selection of
products have been included within the scope of the certificate. It follows, therefore, that the exclusion of
products or services provided by a certificated office shall not be permitted.
Certificates are issued to the company for specific office locations and it is permissible for a company to have
some offices certificated under the scheme and other offices not included in the scheme."

Hi Jim,

This is then a clear difference between IFS and BRC Standards, as it is permitted by the IFS  Broker Standard, as long as the exclusion is expressly stated on the certificate.

4- Scope of the Audit

If, under exceptional circumstances, the company decides to exclude

the broker services related to specific product groups from the scope of

the audit, then this shall be clearly noted and included in the audit report

and on the IFS certificate.

It might help those who are uncertain between the two standards!

What can be the reason to exclude products?

Are these products selected, sourced, developed or sold in another way? A way that somehow not comply to the standards?
