Halal Labelling
Hi,
I am desperately looking for help in labelling products as HALAL. Products purchased as HALAL with full supplier certification being re-packed in different packaging and supplied to the customers. is there any way round to avoid HALAL site certification, as its only few lines supplied as HALAL.

Hello... I think that this is similar as for other standards. As i understood you are going to pack products that are produced under the HALAL, but you do not want to certify your company by HALAL.
TRADE DESCRIPTION ACT, 1972 In exercise of the powers conferred by section II of the Trade Descriptions Act, 1972, the Minister hereby makes the following order: 1. This Order may be cited as the Trade Descriptions (Marking of Food) Order, 1975. I. All food specified in the Schedule hereto which is Halal according to the Trade Description (Use of Expression Halal) Order, 1975 shall not be supplied unless it is marked by a label, tag or any other form of mark that such food is Halal...
But at the end if you want to mark HALAL on label, you must certify it on site of production. And additionally final product is the one packed at your site so you must confirm that you are operating on each line under the demands of HALAL.

I'm pretty sure you will need a Halal inspection regardless. However, if the process is as simple as you describe it is very easy. At least here in the US a Halal inspection of that nature would take approximately 1 hour or less. They would just want to verify you are not repacking non-Halal items into Halal. I think because you are only repacking and the initial product is already Halal certified you would have a lower cost.
We are a certified Halal slaughter plant......not all certifying bodies will allow non-halal to be stored in the same room as halal......it can become very tricky.....i would imagine that you will need to be certified as halal even to repack. Again, depending on the certifying body, some are more orthodox than others and may have tighter rules.
Are you simply portioning individually wrapped items in larger packs? or are you packaging bulk materials?

The product you are packing considered for your operation as a raw material which you have the confirmation and a certificate by the supplier that it is HALAL certified and your operation only is the packing.
If there is no requirements mentioned in HALAL for packing process, I Think you are in no need for site certification.
