What is the validation for the metal detector pieces needed for the calibration of the device?
Note: Pieces (ferrous 2 mm, non-ferrous 2 mm & st.st. 2.5 mm).

You need to be cautious with the meaning of the terms Validation and Calibration, especially the latter one. And possibly rhe FS Standard also.
Do you mean Validation of the Critical Limit for a metal detector stage being designated as a CCP ?
If so what is yr critical limit ?

I'm not asking about the calibration as a process.
I'm asking about the limit size of the pieces of ferrous, Non-ferrous & S.S.
we are working with 2 mm for ferrous & non ferrous
for S.S 2.5 mm.
What is the validation for that size to be acceptable limit for calibration?

Hi Midooo,
I suggest you avoid combining the words validate and calibrate.
The practical limit of machine sensitivity known as the LOD depends on the machine design/aperture/product etc.
There is no unique level of LOD / machine acceptability. Obviously a LOD of 1mm is better than a LOD of 2mm. And likely also the machine cost.
If you have a local regulatory standard for metal contaminants, that will define the target sensitivity for yr machine. Values may go down to "zero" depending on the process/consumer/location.
a given business in a given location may have a best practice level of acceptability.
I set my CCP/critical limit at approx. the LOD so i auto-validate that the critical limit is attained.

you have to justify your sizes based on the factors Charles cited including your target market
if you target and justify a 2.5mm when you are making baby food - then of course, we can find issues with that. "a given business in a given location may have a best practice level of acceptability" - as Charles said ; so its up to you to justify that setting/ LOD.
