In the AIB they are asking for Cross-Contamination Prevention

1.23

are they asking for procedures or charts? this has got me puzzled. I work in warehouse that only stores raw product no finish goods or repackaging. we just store until the customer needs the load to go out. would this still apply to me?

Do you have or store allergens?
1. How do you protect non-allergenic products from potential contamination from allergenic products?
Do you have a freezer?
1. In case of an ammonia leak, How do you prevent your raw materials to be contaminated with ammonia?
Do you have pests in your warehouse?

You need procedures stating how are you going to handle hazards that may have a potential to contaminate your raw materials. Your HACCP Plan will have to have a risk assessment to guide you in how to handle this hazards to protect your product or raw materials.

I hope this helps.

Hi Freezepop,

Possibly some slight confusion here -

Is this the clause referred ? -

1.23  Cross Contamination Prevention
Incompatible or hazardous materials require separate handling to prevent contamination

The 1.23 sub-clauses give some pointers although relevance will depend on yr activity.

If above clause is correct, please give some details as to what raw products are stored/handled in the warehouse and how protected from cross-contamination.

Basically a risk assessment is presumably required such as with respect to allergens as mentioned in previous post.

2 Thanks

I wrote up how to prevent contamination from pest like making sure the are no holes around pipes and daylight coming around doors and if we have a tote to spilt we clean it up right away so we don't have any pest. I hope this works.

Then I have written how we store peanuts and tree nuts and how the tree nuts are well sealed and boxed.

I have my AIB audit next Wednesday.

Hi Freezepop,

Sounds like you may have allergen issues for starters = 1.23.1.2

Segregation ?
