No senior management ?

Hypothetically speaking, let's pretend a company's President / CEO were to be removed without a replacement. Without a top manager making the tough calls has anybody substituted a rule by committee?

Assuming this is an SQF related question, there would be a job description for the President and that would include the "provision to cover."  If the President was the senior, then the provision to cover person/title is now the senior.

Most companies are run by a team even when there's a person ostensibly in charge.  The problem is when there is a crisis, that's when you need someone prepared to step up.  As the previous poster said, there should be a number two documented in any case who should cover until s/he is replaced.

I have had CEOs who haven't stepped up to the responsibility though and weren't always missed.
