Aabbas,

This is a few years old. However, it can give you a lead in how to specifically look for these regulations. Keep in mind that would be for your product in your country - Different regulations may apply for export into a different country.

"Aflatoxin residue in grains, nuts, oil seeds and their products such as peanuts, peanuts butter, pistachio, almond, sesame, cotton seeds, sunflower seeds, corn, wheat, rice and soybean should not exceed 20 ug/kg"

Good Luck!

Hi aabbas,

Do you mean the limits within UAE or some other destination ?

Hello Charles,

Thanks a lot for the informative reply. I could not access the file (File or directory not found).

Actually, I am working in sesame processing plant in UAE. I am trying to search for aflatoxin limits in sesame and tahini. I think the aflatoxin percentage in tahini will be less than that in the sesame due to manufacturing processing.

Do you have any files related to my requirements ?

Maybe this site will help? http://www.foodsafet...ence/3FSC05.pdf

2 Thanks

I apologize about the link here it is again, it's latest revision date was 2014 So I would once again check for a newer version. http://agriexchange....ates5122014.pdf   "Aflatoxin residue in grains, nuts, oil seeds and their products such as peanuts, peanuts butter, pistachio, almond, sesame, cotton seeds, sunflower seeds, corn, wheat, rice and soybean should not exceed 20 ug/kg" - This also can be translated into a max of 20 ppb. Make sure that the test kits that you are using will not have any interference with binders as it is a common source of error, as well as making sure that the test kit that you use have cross reactivity with Aflatoxin B1, B2, G1, and G2. While B1 may be the most prevalent it can shift depending on the product. Many suppliers will ask you to use the sesame in paste form and may have different procedures from testing grains.

I hope you find the information helpful.
