Confused with term "review" in FSMS
Dear every one,
i am now confused with the term " REVIEW" in Food Safety Management System. Could anybody give me explaination of the meaning and the application of review implementation.

It's really a review of the entire documented system, all of your programs, how you handle complaints, recalls, etc. etc. to see if you all need to make adjustments, changes or to ensure that everything is running the way it should.

So, what is the different between review and verification ? because sometime FSMS require us to do review, sometime it require us to do verification and some time both. For example,

Do you know there is a free downlodable Guidance document for SQF which discusses the requirements for almost every clause in main modules ?

You need the 6 "Guidance Documents". These also contain the related Code clauses in numbered order.
The modules match the Codes and relate to what product you are doing.

The term 'Review' assumes importance in HACCP - FSMS. As you know it is the Food Safety Team / HACCP team which develops and implements the FSMS. How long is this system valid or effective?. This is assessed trough review. Review is re- evaluating your system for its continued suitability. It can be explained with few examples
Example 1: You are an exporter of frozen shrimp from country A to country B. If country B makes an amendment in their food law making few changes in the microbiological levels for sea foods, then your existing FSMS requires a review (.ie whether this amendment is going to affect your end product)
Example 2: Currently you having a semi automated shrimp process line and going for a fully automated process line. How does this change impacts the safety of your end product? A review of your FSMS is required in this instance.
Example 3: A new research establishes a new strain of pathogen associated with seafood. How does this will have its effect on your end product being exported?
In all the above instances a review of FSMS becomes essential. Any change internal or external which will have a direct influence on the safety of the end product requires reevaluation (review) of the existing FSMS the you have been implemented

Your documentation and overall systems will change after initial implementation for a variety of reasons. To a greater or lesser degree specific and minor changes can be accomplished by revision(s). Multiple minor changes could possibly conflict or make the document confusing. Incremental changes that alone are not significant can also gain synergies and become significant.
A periodic review (3 yrs. max) where you go back to the Hazard analysis and make sure the system is working and the verification documents hold up to the stated purposes is needed. basically make sure a rewrite isn't needed or the circumstances are the same as when it went into practice.
it is good to recognize the difference in revision vs review. I still have to coach some in my organization on the terms.
