Does artificial or synthethic flavors need microbial analysis?

Food additives typically need to be FS approved. This probably includes microbial analysis within overall BCPA characteristics.

Is there any food regulation that required microbial analysis?

Usually Local Regulatory / External location of Consumption

if any, please refer. Thank you.

Hi Jack,

See ^^.

Welcome to the Forum ! :welcome:

There are no rules in the USA that require you to perform microbial testing on flavors. With that said, however, you cannot say that they are all without risk, because they are all different.  I suggest you ask your supplier to add microbial testing to the Certificate of Analysis for the flavor or to provide a microbial risk statement.  Their response should guide you to a conclusion to test or not test.

(Disclosure:  I'm a flavor chemist who now does quality/regulatory/food safety.  :ninja: )
