HACCP for Packaging Step 11 and 12
Good morning,
can some one tell me what i have to do in step 11 and 12 of HACCP?
in our company we make packaging for food contact.
Thank you.
I only assume you haven't found any CCPs, we are a food packaging manufacturer also and we have not found any CCPs. If you're referring to Principles 6 & 7 (they relate to how you perform steps 11 & 12), once you have how you will verify your plan (11) principle 6 is who will verify it and the method. for example: Regular, documented checks of the monitoring equipment, or by physical examination of product at a set number or time performed by the person packing the product or whomever you have designated in procedure to do the checks. 12 would be to identify the records used by the people doing the checks and recording the data. Remember, validation plays into your verification. If the methods aren't adequate to eliminate or reduce the risk(s) to an acceptable level, the verification is irrelevant because the method is flawed. I hope this helps!
thank you for your replay.
we have not found CCPs too, but i think that you can have CCP if you are packaging manufacturer, for example if you use a metal detector, it could be a CCP.
have you got a hair cap to prevent hair loss in the packaging? because we have considered the presence of hair as a hazard but we have never had a complaint for that, while we have not a hair cap...
Yes, depending on the type of packaging you are manufacturing there certainly can be CCPs. We are a paperboard converter so no such operations here. We wear hair and, if necessary, beard nets in the finishing and rework areas as a result of our risk assessments.
Hi NI,
Steps 11/12 as already noted are linked to Principles 6/7.
Their basic interpretation is, i suppose, the same in Packaging as for food.
The details of some "Principles" may vary slightly depending on whether original reference is Codex or USA (or possibly the specific FS Standard which unknown in this thread). For example, some texts now have Validation extracted from within Verification.
I have attached a few, IMO, quite well explained (food) examples for you to peruse.
