Pest Control Should Inspect Admin Office ?
Hello,
We are working to achieve the SQF certification i have a doubt because we are about to contract a Pest Control company so my concern is do we need them to even inspect the Administrative offices? they are connected to raw materials thru 2 doors only.
Also do we need to give them a Floor plan with all drains? including in that case the drains of the administrative offices.
Thank you!
Yes and Yes...technically you can do the offices in house if it's more cost effective to do so but it will still need done at whatever frequency you choose for the plant.
Drains can harbor all sorts of nasty critters so yes. Your drains should also be inspected during sanitation, not every day, perhaps once/week depending on what your making.
jeanc1990:
Do you have a break/lunch room in your administrative area? if yes, you should like to consider it including in the Pest Management Program. Additionally, as you said the area has access to the raw ingredients storage.
Also do we need to give them a Floor plan with all drains? including in that case the drains of the administrative offices.
You will need to share the Floor plan with them as they need to indicate the bait stations or other devices, as it is required by the code 13.2.10.4 (vi). IMO, if the cost is same, why not to include the administrative area.
The thing is i might by studying the possibility of doing the pest control ourselves instead of using a contractor, what do you think about this?
See this thread for the pros and cons of doing your own pest control:

Read the code thoroughly and make sure your personnel have the applicable chemical licenses and you have the proper storage areas for chemicals, etc.
SQF code states:
13.2.10.8 Use only trained and qualified operators who comply with regulatory requirements;
Licensed and approved by the local relevant authority
Do you have any licensed personnel at your facility to handle pesticides? How comfortable do you feel storing Pesticides at your facility?
IMO: A good Pest Management should be a combination of both, Internal and External 3rd party licensed teams, however, we have more experienced members who can share their view.
