2.9.7 Training Skills register and competency verification
We make everyone in the plant do GMP training including the office staff and plant manager.
Question, how do I show my plant manager's competency in for example sanitation and cleaning when he doesn't partake in it.
We use a on-line training as well as in-house plant specific training. With the on-line training, staff are educated on areas that aren't part of their normal job duties. They prefer it that way because they like to stay informed. So one of the trainings is on shipping and receiving.
Question, how do I show competency with those employees who don't partake in shipping and receiving but were educated on it. Do I say N/A on my spreadsheet or not even put it under their training.
I would suggest a little written quiz given to all the employees that are doing the training that doesn't normally pertain to their jobs. After they finish their online training, have them fill out the quiz. Check their answers and review any incorrect answers with them, and have both of you sign it to confirm the training was completed and understood by all parties involved. I use "competency quizzes" after training to prove it was effective.
I hope this idea helps!

Not everybody needs to be on your training matrix. People could sit in for training and not be on the final matrix. Or you could do a written quiz to determine sink-in and that would be your verification the training was effective.
For the plant manager on sanitiation you can simply hand him a mop, still something on the floor and tell him to clean it up --- check your own SOP and training and then verify that his training was effective via one-to-one observation of him doing the mopping corectly in accordance with the training he/she got.
