GMP training of candidates sent by staffing agencies ?

Hi everybody!!!

 

How has been your experiences with candidates sent by staffing agencies. Are candidates trained by staffing agency, in GMP’s, before sending them to their respective clients?

At base, when a company hires on an agency to provide workers by contract you inform the agency what policies and procedures the company requires the agency to train the the temps on - and I assume you are talking about temps and not full time full timers.

Standard practice, and it should be part of that contract

 

IMEX however, it was rarely done.............and would ALWAYS need to be done in house anyway  (with a translator that made a mess of things)

Always trained temps on site.  Staffing agency may be able to get signatures on GMP policies and such, but I would always go over it again with the temp(s) on their first day since you'd have to train them hands-on with donning PPE, location of supplies etc.

That should be an agreement between you and the agency. But I still do train them again when they come in.

FDA Requirements:

 

§ 117.4 Qualifications of individuals who manufacture, process, pack, or hold food. Each individual engaged in manufacturing, processing, packing, or holding food (including temporary and seasonal personnel) or in the supervision thereof must:

 (1) Be a qualified individual as that term is defined in § 117.3‐‐i.e., have the education, training, or  experience (or a combination thereof) necessary to manufacture, process, pack, or hold clean and safe food as appropriate to the individual’s assigned duties; and

 (2) Receive training in the principles of food hygiene and food safety, including the importance of employee health and personal hygiene, as appropriate to the food, the facility and the individual’s assigned duties. 

 

Question:  

1.  As part of the training, HACCP is not included (vegetables and fruits manufacturing). Would it be the HARPC instead?

 

​QA Technician = HARPC & GMP (Good Hygiene Practice) ????? 

Sanitation Technician = Sanitation procedures & GMP (Good Hygiene Practice) ?????

 

Do you thing everybody need to be trained on HARPC?

As stated above, (1) could mean anything. Maybe 117.3 is more specific.

HARPC is apparently now an obsolete terminology. And NO.

They should be, specially if is part of the agreement you had with the agency.  For my experience, I would recommend you do your own training as well. More effective. :ejut:

We have staffing issues here in Quebec (Massive issues). We often use an agency to help cover our weeks (3 days a week, depending on production).

 

We train them on site, but we give them a reduced GMP training. We train them for handwashing, crossed contamination, etc. and what would be relevant for their post. I wouldn't trust the staffing agencies to train them like you want. A refresher is always good anyway. :)

Suppose I have a staffing agency. I provide you with employees (QA/QC technician, sanitation technician, and Production/General Labor). Then I tell you that I am going to train the employees before sending them to their respective jobs. Besides that I say the training will cover the FDA requirements (Preventive Control for humans Food).

 

How can I prove to you that my employees were TRAINED and that they UNDERSTOOD the material?

PD: Excuse my English, but it's my second language

I find it easiest to train them on site to verify that they know and understand the expectations. We have a GMP and safety checklist that's an edited format of our extended training. All temps that will operate machinery must undergo LOTO training, no exceptions. Same with temps doing sanitation - PPE & Chemical Handling training. Even if they are only here for a day!

Have them do a little test to train their knowledge after the training. Upon sending them to their jobs give the employer their tests and results.
