Age of HACCP Training Certificate

I had a customer request a "younger" copy of my HACCP Training Certificate - it is dated 2011.  Is there an expiration to training certificates?  Does the FDA require CE to maintain the certificate?

Mine is from 2015. No auditor or regulatory auditor has ever had a problem with it. I may do an advanced one though very soon just for me. They do advise you renew it every 3 years though.

While it is recommended that HACCP training be refreshed as HACCP itself evolves, your original certification does not expire. The FDA does not require CE for this. That being said, you may encounter a customer or certifying body that would prefer refresher training or CE in general. I still have my HACCP certificate from 2007, my SQF from 2008 is finding difficult to get a copy of, and thankfully I'll go through PCQI in a couple of weeks. Good luck!

FDA does not.  Customers and audit schemes sometimes want some type of refresher frequency.  We use Primus (I know, I know, no one else does) and they require HACCP re-certification every five years (but nothing yet on PCQI certs).  I guess I can understand why, although seems a little overkill to me.  Enjoy your class.

There is no expiration date.

Hello,

as long as you can demonstrate competence, no expiration date

You can show a recent HACCP training certificate and still have no clue on i.e, difference between verification and validation,

best regards,

Leila

We were just talking about this yesturday! My certificate from NEHA says right on the bottom that "valid for three years from date of completion". Might not be a bad idea to take a HACCP refresher class, any thoughts?

Really? I have my cert from NEHA and I don't have that on mine. What year were you certified?

Mine is from April 2017.

Mine is older; from Nov 2014. Perhaps NEHA didn't include any renewal dates back when I received mine.

My SQF certification is from 2009.

My HACCP certification from 2008.

I have PCQI certificatiom from 2016.

Nothing has ever been questioned.  As someone else said, as long as you can demonstrate competence it should be a non-issue.  Your HACCP plans would be demonstration of your competence.

As others have said, perhaps some certification bodies require some regular frequency of certification or re-certification.

My Level 4 HACCP is from 2010.  I've put in the budget for a refresher this year but I've done that before and it's the first thing to get wiped off.

As others have said, there isn't strictly an expiration date. I typically hear 3 years used generally in the UK for level 3 training, and no refresher required for level 4.

It may depend on your specific customer and scheme requirements; I once had a retail customer that required "annual refresher training" for all members of the HACCP team. Perhaps it's worth asking the customer in this case whether they have specific requirements? Or perhaps the person asking for "younger" training is just assuming that one exists.

I agree with what Leila said; last year I was on a HACCP course with a colleague who somehow passed, but they wouldn't be able to tell you how many principles there are let alone what they are.

Hi, i dont understand why you should have to take your HACCP training again if it kept upto date with CPD, when you pass your driving test you dont have to take it again so why sholud you retake your HACCP training. if you can show good knowledge of the subject its just potty.
