hey guys,

Just curious...when using the 3M petri film method, do I need to record the results in MPN/gram or CFU/gram?

Thanks :):)

When I used to do lab, petrifilm results are always reported in cfu/g sample.

Thought so.

thank you majoy :)

3M has some high quality information on the use and interpretation of the petrifilm plates.  I use them in all our micro plating SOP's with petrifilm plating.  There is one for each specific type of petrifilm.

It directly relates to the specific Procedure.

And the Procedure directly relates to the specific Objective.

MPN Procedures are often invoked where the level of target species is Low, typically <100 cfu/gram. Originally developed for micro (indicator) evaluation of water supplies.
