SQF 8.1 Update
** From September 02 on, audits will be conducted under the SQF Code, Edition 8.1.
Do you think they will update the checklist and the guidance to edition 8.1 too? As of today both are still edition 8, but the changes are minor in nature.
Very minor changes and they already have the 8.1 manuals available online - I am looking at the one for distribution now.
I read through the changes to the code document and it looks mostly like grammatical and syntax changes for clarification. I didn't really see any other changes. It appears to be in response to the volume and frequency of comments over the last year or so from concerned and thorough individuals like the ones here that actually scrutinize the written code. I also think it's good that they took the time and made changes. It shows they are engaged in the same continuous improvement they require from us. :giggle:
I have the 8.0 Food safety fundamentals manual. I recently looked for it on the web and now can not find it. Our facility is food Packaging and still under level 1. Did this change also?
Wait, So it looks like they rolled out 8.1 to introduce the Foodservice module? or was there already a foodservice module?
I knew I read it while reviewing the new edition (Page 2, para 2 from edition 8.1):
"Edition 8.1 of the SQF Codes includes grammar and content clarification. A more complete revision of the SQF Codes
will be published as edition 9 towards the end of 2020, following publication of the revised GFSI requirements."
Did anyone else catch the change to the Quality Code for 2.1.2.9? This was not included on the change log sent out by SQF. The new clause requires benchmarking with external sources (e.g. industry, customers). Of course, they also changed the terminology when referring to benchmarking; now it is referred to as "trending progress in quality performance".
Looking for ideas on how to meet this. We already include customer complaints (customers) and audit scores (industry) in our benchmarking. Would this be sufficient?
