Hi All,

I am about to go on BRC course- Global Standard for Consumer Products Issue 4: Lead auditor, and really need some advise on the exam please.

What type of exam and what should i prep for prior taking this course?

It is a 5 days course with exam on the last day so i think it will be quite intense..

I've tried searched online and nothing comes up on exam guide.

Thank you.

Sally

Hi Sallyjackson,

Hope you are doing well!

During the exam the standards will be given to you and you can refer it to find the non conformity. Then you would be explain the reasons of the NCs.

I'm very new to this and do not yet have a working knowledge of quality management systems and auditing (only have done level 3 HACCP  recently). So BRC provider said maybe Auditor Training 3 days course might suit you better. Do you think if i get some practical training in within the organisation i am working at, together with understanding the standard, i can pass the lead auditor exam?

please let me know your thoughts.

thanks

Consumer products isn't really my thing, but in general I'd expect the BRC Lead Auditor course to be targeted at experienced auditors/quality managers, so perhaps not an ideal introduction to auditing. There is a summary included in the attached document from BRCGS - see page 15.

Of particular note is perhaps the comment that: "Before the course you will need a working knowledge of quality management systems and auditing within the relevant manufacturing sector, and you must have completed a hazard and risk management course (minimum 2 days' duration)."

I'd take the training provider's recommendation and do the shorter course to start with, and build up your experience of quality management systems and of auditing before embarking on the lead auditor course, as the value you will get out of it is likely to be significantly limited without some experience in these areas.

You might get lucky and find that someone on the forum here has experience with the Consumer Goods standard, but generally the expertise here is understandably on the food/packaging/transport standards due to IFSQN's focus. The training provider should be able to provide more information, but it could also be worth asking on the BRC Participate website section for Consumer Goods: https://brcgspartici...com/discussions

(You'll need to have access to Participate, but if your company is already BRC certified then you will have this)
