I have attached a Critical Industry Workforce letter template to issue to employees should a shelter-in-place order be announced in your area.

[Company] is considered a Critical Infrastructure Industry per the US Department of Homeland Security and US Centers for Disease Control Coronavirus Guidelines. As an associate of [Company], you are an essential employee and needed for [Company]’s daily operation and critical distribution business to continue.

 

As State, province, cities and Federal authorities implement curfews and shelter-in-place orders, essential associates will be permitted to continue working. We will keep our facilities open and will continue to follow all CDC and other government guidelines regarding COVID-19 to make sure we are also keeping our associates healthy and safe.

 

Please keep this letter on you or in the vehicle you use to transit to and from work each day. If you are stopped by law enforcement, National Guard or another authorized government representative, you can show this letter to them, and explain that you are an employee of an essential workforce and should be permitted to proceed. You may want to reference the law firm's Hogan & Lovells work around this.  They include templates for both food/ag workers, as well as, transportation employees.

As as aside, they have a subscription email service that, for me, has proven to be a good source of info on FDA, FSMA, etc.  (I am not connected with them in any way).
