COVID 19 will this be your Crisis Management Plan exercise for SQF
Would like to see if others are debating about making their SQF annual Crisis Management Exercise scenario the pandemic COVID 19?
We normally have our Annual Crisis Management Exercise in Mid March however we have had to delay due to increased production with COVID 19 hoarding. Would like to hear others thoughts on why this should or should not be a good scenario since we are all basically dealing with it in real life.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Kind Regards,
We did our exercise mid to end of February and the topic was Coronavirus. At that point, we didn't know if it was a food safety hazard or not, however, we talked through various things such as: sanitizer, gloves, redundancy of ingredient suppliers, importing of ingredients, staffing of departments, critical positions (schedulers, for example), etc. It got the management team starting to think about the impact to their department and what to be looking at. This meeting was documented and notes shared with action items.
Fast forward two weeks, and a lot of what was discussed was being implemented throughout the company due to the impact of Covid19 in the area/state. Since that point, Sr. Management meets everyday to discuss the current critical issue - pulling in those that they need information from.
We include "major illness" in our crisis plan.
