Under ISO 22000 and ISO 9001 can internal audits be carried out by managers with no training on the standard or auditing?
Hi,
Since joining my new company I think most of my understanding on FSMS and QMS has gone back.
Under the ISO 22000 and ISO 9001 is it possible to have internal audits being carried out by managers that have no training on the standard and auditing?
I'd love to use meme here: Well yes, but actually no!
A point is to prove the competence. Certificates or training records make it easier otherwise CB Auditor has to interview each person to feel confident, and that is time consuming and perhaps frustrating. They likely issue an NC for lack of competence evidence. At least, they usually look for ISO19011 certificates.
Of course they can do and perhaps you have some competent auditors without formal qualifications, but it is important to have the underpinning knowledge about the standard and audit protocol to ensure audit effectiveness. I agree an external auditor would be looking for evidence of formal training of auditors.
Maybe the audit gods are smiling down on you as IFSQN have an online auditor training planned next week.
