Threshold Limits for Declaring Food Allergen in UK

Dear all,

Good day to all, I would like to ask for some clarifications here in regards the threshold levels of declaring food allergens in UK.

Is there any threshold limit (regulatory limit) for us to declare "May Contain" certain allergens in our labeling? Can someone please shed some lights on this for me?

Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Jason.

The UK does not have any allergen thresholds, with the exception of the 10mg/kg limit for SO2.

The general regulatory position is that "may contain" warnings should only be used after conducting a proper risk assessment to identify that there is a potential risk to consumers, even with GMP in place.

See e.g.:

What is the context of your query? Is this e.g.  potential contamination that can't be controlled in your factory, or low levels of carryover from a raw material etc?
