Extending the shelf life of mango juice

We have a mango juice in stock which have 6 months shelf life. After 15 it will be expired, so the owner order direct the plant manager to extend and reprint for 6 months more to change it. The plant manager is disagree he is ideal from this work until this issue finish. We give this 6 month shelf life study not by shelf study process we just put to start to with minimum level. The owner order for me direct to reprint the shelf life of all the stock we have. I am confused and I don’t know what to do. For the regulation and law there is no law or regulation on the country that I was working we don’t have problem of that. But moral my mind is not accepted to pass my manager and do something on back of him. What advice can you give me please.

(a) is this canned, UHT, pasteurised, sterilised ??

(b) Who usually authorizes the printing of expiry date on labels ?

(c) Who do you report to on the Organisation Chart ?

(d) How did you justify the 6-month shelf life ? eg is it same as other similar products on the market ?

The juice is sterilized with in 110 degree centigrade for 14 sec
The authorization is on the plant manager but the plant manager say I can not decide on this matter so the owner interfered on this and he tell the plant manager to stay home until we finished this work and order us to do the job
On the organization I am quality assurance manager report to the plant manager

I missed the bit about "expired" in yr OP. Does this mean that some product is/has been already in the market with a 6 month shelf life ?

Yes the juice is sterilized in UHT machine and filling temperature is. 65 degree centigrade
No all product is on the warehouse 15 days left only left to be expired that is why the owner he wants to reprint add six month more shelf life on the juice

Yr process is somewhat confusing to me but not my product area.

 

I assume the Plant manager reports to the Owner.

 

In order to protect yourself I suggest -

 

(1) Since you are responsible for quality control, you should decide if you are (safety/qualitywise) satisfied to commercialize the product with a (maximum) 12-month shelf-life label. (eg without doing any shelf-life test).

 

(2) The result of (1) should be documented  to the Plant Manager with copy to the Owner. (and especially if yr opinion is negative).

 

The owner can presumably then act accordingly. (I assume he can [documented] authorize printing appropriate labels).

 

PS - i deduce the owner intends to place a new label on top of old one, this would cause the product to be Regulatory rejectable in some locations. This aspect should also be  considered with respect to No.(2).

 

Hope the above makes sense.

 

Any other suggestions welcome of course.
