USFDA Fish Allergen List

Dear team, as per USFDA 8 major allergen list was declared by GOVT. For this, particularly in fish they are mentioned e.g., bass, flounder, cod. Other than three fish category, can we consider as a allergen or are only three fish to be considered? Experts please clarify.

All fin fish are included in the category of fish allergens.  The three species mentioned are examples, but not the whole list.  There is more information in an FDA guidance document at https://www.fda.gov/...rgens-edition-4.  Question 26 addresses fish species.

You must state there is a fish allergen and the name of the fish. For the list of common names - refer to the link in smgendel's post and then #26.

In the US it is not required to state “fish,” although most retailers require it. It is only necessary to list the species of fish (e.g., salmon) in the ingredients statement or in a statement under the ingredients statement (“contains salmon”). You may additionally declare that it is a type of fish by stating “ contains salmon (fish),” but again, this is not required by regulation.
