Heavy Metal in Process Water CAPA
Hello awesome community! My name is Jorge, I work at a pork meat processing plant, and im working on a procedure. What corrective actions would you consider if the process water used for rinsing pork carcass were to be above allowed limits for heavy metal? Im considering immediate treatment on the water, but im more concerned in the product. Would analysing the product for heavy metals would be a good idea or would you consider immediate disposal? Any advice would be of great help! Thanks!
Hi,
The product should be discarded, because FDA limit is almost zero for the presence of any of the heavy metals except Hg, Cr and Cd (1, 1, 0.005 ppm).
Already humans are exposed to heavy metals due to n number of reasons. why to risk more!
And in context to contaminated water, immediate treatment would be necessary with identifying the root cause of exposure to contamination, this will prevent such failures in future.
Hope this Helps
Cheers.
