Reusing coats and hairnets

Hello, can you advise me please, poultry factory. A manager where's a blue coat (production) and keeps it in there office. Coming from a high risk environment this just boggles me. Its kept on there desk folded over. I questioned this and was met with a few answers one being it would get removed. But this doesn't feel right to me. Any PPE should be removed and binned or removed and hung if still in good order to be used when coming back into production. There hair mob is also re-used in the office. (and has a hole in it) I was shocked with the wearing of wellies outside to get to the other plant but they have a wellie wash so...….Could someone put my mind at rest. I feel if an auditor witnessed this they would blow a fuse. I'm guessing I should see the risk assessment.

Hi

In all the production facilities it relatively normal for office staf to hang their Low-Care coats in the office (if the office is close to production).
They will change in and out from their office. They usually also have a stash of new hair nets available.

Hair nets with holes in them are unacceptable. Re-wearing hairnets also posses a risk. The hairnet can be worn inside out, causing possible hairs to fall out.

We never allowed high care clothes to leave the high care area. It is too much risk (and blurrs our standards).

I am also not a fan of wearing ''inside'' shoes outside. It can track all kinds of dirt/bacteria inside. We have a small shoerack near the outside. So they can easily change. Which means some colleagus have low care, high care and outside shoes :happydance: .

thank you, i just cant get my head round all the stuff that could be on there coat, blood, water, chicken juices. makes me feel sickly lol

At every poultry facility I have worked in, boots went outside  and yes, coats were hung everywhere in the office....

I think the risk is larger bringing something into the office then out to the plant.....

Hairnets---dump them---cheap and easy to switch out
