Food grade status of processing aids, cleaning and engineering chemicals

May I know what are the specific parameters for a cleaning chemical, oil/grease like engineering chemical to be food grade?

 

As a food manufacturer, what we need to strictly look in such a chemical ? (except the suppliers' declaration about the compliance status)
